Background

Michelle Lavoie Beyer is an Associate in Cummings & Lockwood’s Private Clients Group and is based in the West Hartford office.

Michelle advises high net worth individuals and families with complex personal and financial needs on a wide range of trust and estate matters.  Her practice includes estate and gift tax planning, multigenerational wealth transfer, and planning for blended families, second marriages, and same-sex couples.  She also counsels clients on strategies to protect assets passing to children and other beneficiaries from future risks such as divorce or creditor claims, as well as on trustee transitions, business succession, and planning for out-of-state property and seasonal residences.

She develops comprehensive, sophisticated estate plans tailored to each client’s goals and drafts a variety of estate planning instruments, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, life insurance trusts, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, and living wills.  Her estate plans often include provisions addressing matters such as disposition of remains, rights of first refusal, and guardianship designations for minor children.
