November 6, 2025
It is with profound sadness that Cummings & Lockwood announces the death of our partner, Gina D. Silvestri, who had a stellar 37 year career with the firm and was most recently based in the Greenwich office, having also been resident in the West Hartford and Stamford offices earlier in her career. She came to Cummings & Lockwood as a summer associate in 1988, joined the firm as an associate in 1989 and became a partner in 1998.
Gina was a brilliant private clients attorney, recognized by her clients, colleagues and the broader trusts and estates community as a skilled lawyer and advisor. She was a Fellow in the prestigious College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC) and was very active in the organization, serving on the Estate and Gift Tax and Business Planning Committees. She was also consistently ranked as among the Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.
Gina was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Estate Planning Council of Fairfield County and Estate Planning Council of New York City. She was admitted to the New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut bars.
She earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center and her B.A., cum laude, from Northwestern University. She was actively engaged with her alma mater, Northwestern University, and was a member of the Council of One Hundred, WIN (Women in Networking), the Alumni Association and Northwestern University Club of New York.
Laura Weintraub Beck, Chairman and Managing Director of Cummings & Lockwood noted that “Gina was a valued partner to Cummings & Lockwood, a friend to her colleagues and co-workers, and beloved by many of her clients. Her generosity and thoughtfulness were remarkable and noted by all who knew her well. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughters and family during this difficult time.”
