Robert P. Dolian graduated, Phi Beta Kappa, from Duke University with a B.A. in political science in 1969.  Between college and law school, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa.  Bob joined Cummings & Lockwood in 1975 after receiving his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.  He is experienced in complex commercial litigation and probate litigation.  He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and various federal appellate and district courts.  Bob is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and has served as a faculty member for the Connecticut Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute.  He has also been appointed a special master in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and an attorney trial referee in the Connecticut Superior Court.  Bob is a past Chairman of both the Stamford United Way and Connecticut Legal Services.  He also serves on the Board of the United Way of Western Connecticut. 

Representative Matters in which Mr. Dolian had first chair responsibility:

  • Representation of a Fortune 500 Company in a six month trial relating to the construction of a $35 million office building.
  • Representation of a Fortune 100 Company in dispute over a $15 million real estate transaction.
  • Representation of a reinsurance company in a $10 million arbitration regarding a reinsurance treaty.
  • Representation of fiduciaries and beneficiaries in probate court and superior court in matters relating to wills, estate administration, trusts, and conservatorships.
  • Representation of a service provider in a two year AAA arbitration which resulted in a $5.3 million recovery for the client.
  • Representation of a Fortune 100 Company in a wrongful termination action which also involved complex accounting and securities issues.
