Cummings & Lockwood Welcomes Two Trusts and Estates Attorneys to Its Greenwich, Connecticut, Office

Cummings & Lockwood is pleased to announce the addition of two trusts and estates attorneys to its Greenwich, Connecticut office -- George L. Smith, Senior Counsel and Eva V. Kliegman, Principal.

Prior to joining the firm, George was a Partner in the Trusts and Estates Practice Department at Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC.  George practices in all areas of estate and trust planning and administration, including advising individuals on the tax consequences associated with planning for the disposition of assets.  In addition to representing individuals in their estate planning matters, he represents individuals, banks and trust companies serving in fiduciary capacities.  George also assists individuals in designing charitable giving plans.

George received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. from Trinity College.  He is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, New York and Florida.

Eva was previously a Partner in the Trusts and Estates Department at Whitman Breed’ Abbott & Morgan LLC s in Greenwich, Connecticut.  She represents clients in all estate planning matters, including gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax planning; the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills and related documents; estate settlement; and trust administration.  

Eva also represents clients in tax controversy and collection matters.  Earlier in her career, Eva practiced at a law firm in New Haven where she represented clients in estate planning and administration, commercial litigation, tax controversy, and business matters.

Eva received her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Connecticut.  She is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and before the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, and the U.S. Tax Court.
