Michael J. Hinton received his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1973, and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Cornell Law School in 1976, where he was notes editor of the Cornell International Law Journal .  Mike was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1976 and to The Florida Bar in 1979. 

Mike is a transactional lawyer who focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate finance, environmental, franchise, syndication and partnership law.  He has had extensive experience representing individual and institutional clients, including REITs, real estate funds and mezzanine lenders, in connection with all phases of the acquisition, construction, financing, leasing and disposition of commercial real estate.  His experience includes the structuring, financing, acquisition and disposition of brownfield and environmentally impacted properties, as well as the representation of traditional and alternative energy companies.  Mike has had extensive experience with private securities offerings, including real estate and other asset syndications, mezzanine financing and joint ventures.  He has also represented individual and institutional clients in connection with a variety of franchise matters.

Mike took a five-year leave of absence from the Firm in 1983 to become General Counsel of a local investment banking firm and a real estate investment advisory, consulting and asset management firm which provided services to various financial institutions and developers.
